Path Keeper Terms of Use
Acceptance of These Terms
Last Updated: October 13, 2026
These Terms of Use govern your use of the Path Keeper mobile application. By downloading, installing, or using Path Keeper, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the application.
Current Service
Path Keeper is a local-first route-tracking application. Its current features include current-position display, route recording, background and screen-locked tracking during an active session, saved route history, route playback, route rename and deletion, route statistics, GPX export and sharing, activity backup and restore, fitness totals, personal bests, and offline map downloads.
Path Keeper currently has no user accounts, subscriptions, in-app purchases, cloud route synchronization, or Path Keeper-operated server for route storage.
Eligibility and Supervision
You must be at least 13 years old to use Path Keeper. The application is not intended for children under 13. If you are below the age required by local law to agree to these Terms, use the application only with any legally required permission or supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
A parent or legal guardian who permits an eligible minor to use Path Keeper is responsible for supervising that use and for reviewing applicable device permissions and advertising settings.
Safe and Lawful Use
You are responsible for using Path Keeper safely and lawfully. Do not interact with the application while driving, cycling, crossing roads, or performing another activity that requires your full attention.
Path Keeper is not an emergency, rescue, medical, fleet-monitoring, or safety service. Do not rely on it to contact emergency services, locate another person, prevent getting lost, or make decisions where inaccurate or unavailable location information could cause harm.
You must not use Path Keeper to track another person without all permissions and legal authority required in your jurisdiction.
Location and Device Permissions
Route recording requires device location access. Background location, notifications, foreground-service operation, wake locks, and optional battery-optimization settings support continued recording while an active session is running and the application is not visible or the screen is locked.
You control device permissions through Android or iOS settings. Denying or revoking a required permission may prevent tracking from starting, continuing, or recording accurately.
You are responsible for stopping a tracking session when you no longer want route recording to continue.
Local Data, Deletion, and Sharing
Saved routes and route points are stored in private application storage on your device. You are responsible for your device, locally stored routes, and any backups or exports you choose to create.
You can delete individual saved routes, clear application data, or uninstall Path Keeper. These actions may permanently remove local information and may not be reversible.
When you export or share a GPX file, you choose the receiving application or service. That recipient handles the exported file under its own terms and privacy practices. Review the destination before sharing sensitive route information.
Activity Backups
Activity backups are unencrypted files containing sensitive location history and saved metadata. You are responsible for choosing a secure destination and protecting exported files, including any copies stored by a cloud document provider.
Restore adds supported activities to local storage without replacing existing activities. Equivalent activities already present are skipped, and existing settings and onboarding choices are preserved. Offline maps, device permissions, and advertising consent are not restored from activity backups. Deleting local activities or uninstalling the application does not remove separately exported files.
Maps and Offline Resources
Path Keeper uses Google Maps for online maps and Mapbox maps and related offline resources. Map content, terrain, labels, roads, boundaries, and offline coverage may be incomplete, outdated, unavailable, or inaccurate.
Offline maps require an initial download and may not contain every resource needed in every area. You remain responsible for carrying appropriate navigation information and following official signs, closures, restrictions, and local conditions.
Advertising and Privacy Choices
The Android version currently uses Google AdMob banner and App Open advertising. Ads may not always be available and may link to third-party applications, websites, products, or services that Path Keeper does not control or endorse.
Eligible ad requests are configured as non-personalized, use restrictive child-directed treatment, and are limited to Google’s G content rating. Google and participating advertising providers may still process limited technical information to provide, secure, measure, and limit advertising as described in the Privacy Policy.
Where Google User Messaging Platform determines that privacy choices are required, Path Keeper waits for the applicable status before requesting ads and provides an “Ad privacy choices” option in Settings when required.
Third-Party Services
Path Keeper currently relies on Google Maps for online maps, Mapbox for maps and offline map resources, Google Play services for Android location updates, and Google AdMob and Google User Messaging Platform for eligible Android advertising and privacy choices.
Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Their availability, content, data handling, and performance are outside Path Keeper’s control.
Application License and Acceptable Use
Subject to these Terms, you receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Path Keeper for personal, lawful purposes on devices you own or control.
You may not misuse the application, interfere with its operation or security, use it to violate another person’s rights, distribute malicious modifications, or copy, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Path Keeper except where applicable law expressly permits an activity that cannot be restricted by contract.
Intellectual Property
Path Keeper’s original application code, branding, interface, graphics, and written content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party libraries, map content, advertisements, names, and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to separate licenses or terms.
Availability, Updates, and Changes
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue features to improve the application, respond to technical or legal requirements, or change third-party services. We do not guarantee that every feature will remain available on every device or operating-system version.
Future features such as accounts, cloud synchronization, purchases, or materially different advertising practices will require updated disclosures or terms where appropriate.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Path Keeper is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted availability, fitness for a particular purpose, location accuracy, map accuracy, route completeness, data preservation, or error-free operation.
GPS accuracy and background operation depend on the device, permissions, battery settings, operating system, satellite visibility, network conditions, third-party services, and surrounding environment. Recorded distances, speeds, elevations, times, and routes are estimates and may contain errors or gaps.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Path Keeper and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from use of or inability to use the application, including lost or inaccurate routes, missed navigation, device or battery issues, third-party services, exported files, or advertising content.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that applicable law does not allow to be limited or excluded.
Ending Use
You may stop using Path Keeper at any time and may uninstall it from your device. Provisions concerning intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and other provisions that by their nature should continue will survive the end of your use.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to Path Keeper, third-party services, or applicable requirements. The current version will be published at the Terms of Use URL and identified by its Last Updated date.
Your continued use after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree with an update, stop using and uninstall Path Keeper.
